Color-Blocking Inspiration

matthew_lillard_freddie_prinze_jr_sarah_michelle_gellar_linda_cardellini_rowan_atkinson_scooby_doo_001The inspiration for today’s (shoe-string) chic look comes from – wait for it…the Scooby Doo Movie, which I watched a few weeks ago with my dad while helping to take care of him after his surgery (he was taking A LOT of painkillers at the time, hence, the weird Netflix pic). In watching the movie, not only did I forget how freaking funny it was (you get a lot more of the jokes watching it as an adult versus when you’re 10), but I absolutely loved the orchid purple and burgundy color-blocking used for all of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s looks in the movie – which are what inspired me to create today’s look by pairing an orchid purple satin blouse with a burgundy pencil skirt, a fitted short-sleeve grey blazer, an orchid purple statement necklace, and a pair of burgundy pointed-toe heels! As always, for more (shoe-string) chic, city-wearable fashions, be sure to follow daily “Style Snaps” of my personal outfits in everyday life at “Bostonian Styled (by Katey)” on WordPress and Pinterest!
