Outfit Idea (what I wore August 9, 2017)
Remember back in 2011-2013 when Chevron print was REALLY in style? Well, during that time, I bought this super cute pink, orchid purple, red, and white chevron print infinity scarf, and only wore it about one or two times. And over the last few months as I’ve taken on this personal fashion challenge of trying to create at least 260 outfits by utilizing articles of clothing that I already had in my wardrobe, I thought this scarf would be really challenging to incorporate into an outfit because I wasn’t sure if it was too “6 seasons ago”. But this morning, I decided to take the risk of making a possible fashion faux paux by pairing this potentially outdated scarf with a light pink ribbed pencil skirt, a sheer red sleeveless blouse, a pair of white strappy wedges, and an orchid purple statement necklace. And to my surprise, I ended up creating a vibrant, color-blocked look that I absolutely loved, and came to realize that a “stylish” outfit isn’t dependent upon whether or not your clothing is “so this season” or has a designer label on it – but instead, is dependent upon your ability to: (1) style and work with what you’ve already got in your closet, and (2) to wear it with total confidence, which unlike an in-season pair of designer thigh high boots, is something that you can’t buy.
